[xmlsec] validating file

Hello,

I receive a xml file with file uri and signature for the files i have to
download.
The signature seems a lot like a a xml signature.
Can i handle file content as digest data and validate the signature same as
i validate an xml  signature?

Hope it makes a bit o sense what i ask .
